Strategy tips on things I would do exactly the same:
- take the most aero helmet, vest, suit, bike, luggage, test it thourougly in real life conditions and get it as comfortable as possible in aero position (in the armrests, where I spend 3/4 of the riding time)
- sleep in a room (sharing a room is no problem), shower and wash clothes every day
- cycle at your own speed, do not hold back for others or chase others faster than you at the moment, others will follow you and the faster ones you will overtake when time comes
- eat all the time, always buy food and coffee, recovery drink or yoghurt in the evening, stay hydrated
- bring only the minimum, pack in a logical way, small transparent bags for organisation, tailfin bag was fantastic
- keep bike chain waxed all times
- be visible, the yellow Castelli vest was perfect
- keep an eye on the watts to cruise at optimum energy expenditure
- do not be afraid of rain or cold, just keep pedalling
- chat with the other riders, you will probably meet again later (in the race or after), all are here for the same challenge and are in good spirit
- have a support group at distance, when you know somebody is watching your dot and progress live you will push more and never feel truly alone
Things I would do differently:
- avaid detours for accommodation (I lost too much time in Munich)
- use more robust tires (GP 4 seasons instead of GP5000 for example)
- double-check the rim band

- the Garmin Varia was not up to the task: not enough battery life and impossible to charge during the ride (shady electric contact)
- I had more and more difficulties to read stuff, check eyesight / glasses before ride
- take phone number and name of other riders, helps to organise to share a hotel room
