The Ironman in Hawaii to me is still the pinnacle of this sport, but if they changed the name tomorrow to Kona, or The Hawaii Challenge, it would not in any way change my perception of this event. Ich habe micht schon öfter gefragt, welche Entwicklung der Marathon wohl im Lauf der letzten 40 Jahre genommen hätte, wenn irgendein findiger griechischer Unternehmer vor 117 Jahren, nach dem ersten Marathonrennen der Neuzeit in Athen sich die Namensrechte für "Marathon" im Zusammenhang mit Laufwettkämpfen weltweit hätte schützen lassen und Jahrzehnte später in Boston, New York und Berlin keine City-Marathons hätten veranstaltet werden dürfen, sondern "Lauflangdistanzen" über 42km...
