Der kleine Raelert hat scheinbar aus dem letzten Jahr auch nichts dazugelernt:
...there are days where you should better stay in bed...like today....
After a little bit of travelling i finally arrived galveston/US on thuersday night and instead getting there with my bike i brought myself a transatlantic flu. so the race-preparation was a kind of unusual. bed and waiting for the bike, bed and waiting for the bike and bed again - bc i got my bike....
Today(raceday) i found something new about myself - i've to admit that i've got a little ego-problem. 1st: instead of staying in bed and get healthy i decided not to listen to my body (and andy) and still try to race. actually my ego-decision was made two hours before the race.
the race himself was running alright for me until i've got a flat at the turnaround on the bike. i got a "new" back-wheel and kept going. 2nd: instead of finishing the day and get defeated i still couldn't give up, kept going and hurting myself. at the end i managed myself back into fours place but for a high price - now i am laying in bed again with still a flu, a sore throat and high temperature. and as a bonbon a broken disc-wheel (that hurts).
yes, definitely there are days where you better stay in bed. and yes for sure, the ego is sometimes bigger than the mind.
anyway - congrats to the fastest boys today - us champ timothy o'donnell 1st, sebastian kienle 2nd and ronny "roadrunner"schildknecht 3rd.
next round: new orleans 70.3 april 22.
ps: thanks again for the nice words:-)
