Specialized. The Big S listens to riders like few other companies do. Its innovators went to the drawing board and came up with four shim kits that fit existing Shimano STI levers. Cost? Just $10 per kit. What an amazing gift to roadies with smaller hands or anyone who wants their brake lever handles closer to the handlebar.

The Specialized kits work with 9-speed and 10-speed Shimano STI levers. Here's the breakdown with Specialized's parts numbers:

No. 2005-9001 for Ultegra ST-6500/ 6501/6510 and 105 ST-5500/5501/5510 STI 9-speed levers. This shim kit shortens reach by 20 mm (0.8 inch).

No. 2136-0100 for Ultegra ST-6600/6603 (including new Ultegra SL) and 105 ST-5600 10-speed levers. Shortens reach 15 mm (0.6 inch).

No. 2136-0110 for Dura-Ace ST-7800 10-speed levers. Shortens reach 15 mm (0.6 inch).

No. 2136-0115 fits Dura-Ace ST-7801/7803 10-speed levers. Shortens reach by 15 mm (0.6 inch).

Aren't sure which STI levers you have? Go to the outer side of the lever and follow the rubber hood back to the handlebar. Roll the hood forward a tad and you'll see the model stamped in the composite body. Voila! Then visit your friendly Specialized dealer and have them order the shims you need, or go to http://www.specialized.com and do it yourself. You won't find these shims anywhere else.
