Christopher Hinshaw war immerhin mal zweiter auf Hawaii (vor etwas über 20 Jahren) und hat nun auch mit Crossfit angefangen. Sehr interessant, was er sp schreibt:
EIA – from yesterday’s blog post I noticed that you were specifically asking to hear CF+CFE success stories from people coming from pure swim/bike/run backgrounds. Although my “story” is not finished, my triathlon racing background is very extensive. I raced as a professional triathlete from age 18 to 27. I’ve raced all over the world and completed more races than I can remember including a 2nd place in the Hawaiian Ironman. I had access the best equipment, trainers, therapists, nutritionists, mechanics, etc. etc. I was training 25,000 yards in the pool, 350-400 miles biking, and 40-50 running per week (yes – every week). I was on a 95% pure carb diet. I was 5’10” and weighed 145lbs. I had a VO2 Max of 91. My resting pulse was 34. My body fat at 3.6%. In the end, I walked from the sport at age 27 because I could no longer take the daily serving of punishment. My last race was Ironman Hawaii (20th place) which was four weeks after I finished 2nd at Ironman Canada (8hours50min). I left the sport crippled. I took 17 years off any form of training. At age 44, I started running again (mostly walking) in late 2007 as my daughter was running cross country. After nine months, I progressed to 25 mile run weeks, dropping weight, and the same old nagging aches and pains. I was on the verge of quitting…again!! I then found Coach Shari Keener, CF and CFE. I still don’t fully understand what Brian, Carl, and Shari are preaching. I find it easier to do what I’m told…WHICH ISN’T EASY. I’ve been working with Shari for 5 months. I do 3x CF and 3x CFE workouts per week (less if I run a TT). My weight is up 17lbs and I’m injury free (fingers crossed). Although I frequently post my workouts on this site, I have recently ran a 38:01 10K, 18:06 5K, and a 5:05 mile. My best workout was 10 x 800m at 2:44 - 2:46 with 2min rest. My run times are now beginning to rival those from when I was in my twenties. Yesterday I posted my Newport Crippler time of 8:25 (splits 2:45/5:40). Yes -- it was a solid run time but the 30 back squats at body weight is what I can’t wrap my brain around. I have never been close to being this strong…EVER. Shari and I are talking about my competing in a few XTERRA triathlons this summer. Plus I’m going to the Newport Cert on Mar-7&8 so I’ll get input from bmack and carl too. I will continue to post my results.
