"So here is why my federation (Deutsche Triathlon Union) does not allow me to go to WTS races this time...
They have a criteria that says you have to do one Top15 result in a World Cup in 2018 and they confirmed that via email. I wanted to do that at the Mooloolaba World Cup three weeks ago and that race was therefore my main focus and what I was training for (besides WTS Abu Dhabi the week before).
Two weeks before Abu Dhabi they told me by email that they wouldn’t count any World Cups before 17.03. (one week after Mooloolaba).
As my taper has already begun and I couldn’t withdraw from the races in Abu Dhabi and Mooloolaba I just did what I was planning to do anyways. Show good performances and fulfill the (now former) criteria in Mooloolaba.
I asked them directly if they would still allow me to go to WTS races as I think it is very unfair to change the criteria three weeks before a race for no reason but they voted against me.
I did have another chance in New Plymouth (a race which I just wanted to do because it was so close and I wanted to have some fun with all my World Cup buddies) but too many races made it impossible for me to do make the required Top10 result. Wasn’t really surprising for me as I was preparing as well as I could for Abu-Dhabi and Mooloolaba, where I indeed showed great performance.
As the next World Cup I can enter is in May in Kasachstan and you have to enter to the start list 35 days before a WTS race, the earliest I might be able to come back to WTS is in July at WTS Hamburg. That means I will miss Bermuda, Yokohama and Leeds, all races that would suit me well. And of course I will not have any chance to a good series ranking in 2018 because of that.
I wanted to describe just the facts here, without my biased opinion, but please leave your opinion below."
Bin gespannt wie lange er das noch erträgt, bevor er wechselt oder aufhört...
