On the up-side for Macca ...
He's riding in a group that includes Timo Bracht, the winner here two years ago. If those two were to come off the bike together, they could certainly work together on the run.

Macca loses more time
I just saw a picture of a concerned-looking Chris McCormack at 12 km into the bike ... and things probably aren't feeling a whole lot better as he watches the group of men ahead of him slowly pull away.
Macca has won races in lots of different ways, but he's certainly setting himself up for quite a challenge if he can't get closer to the men ahead of him by the run - there are some strong runners ahead of him.
Here are the splits behind Faris Al-Sultan (#9) thorugh 63 km:
* Eneko Llanos (#2) at 2 seconds
* Andreas Raelert (#13) at 5 seconds
* Mathias Hecht (#14) at 7 seconds
* Hektor Llanos (#4) at 8 seconds
* Terenzo Bozzone (#12) at 11 seconds
* Chris Mccormack (#1) at 3:22
* Markus Fachbach (#7) at 3:23
* Timo Bracht (#3) at 3:24
* Frank Vytrisal (#10) at 3:26
