Bemwerkenswert sein Verhalten. durch seinen Stop hat er gute 8 Minuten verloren, er wäre dann vielleicht 5ter geworden...

"just a quick race recap...the usual zofingen weather, rain and about 60 degrees greeted all of the racers yesterday. a group of about 10 leaders formed on the first run...i was looking for a bathroom so i missed the break. it worked out well though, because john phillips and i started out on the bike together. we stayed together for over a lap, trading places numerouse times and trying to reel in the break. as we started the 2nd lap a car pulled out in front of us and john hit going 30mph. it was absolutely amazing, and scary, to see his big frame fly through the air, hit the ground, slide under an 18 inch guardrail, and end up in a group of bushes. i slammed on the brakes and spent the next 7 or 8 minutes fishing him out of the weeds, checking his scars, checking his bike, and checking out the phillips sized dent in the car.

john is ok now, but spent the night in the bleak zofingen hospital. he has a bunch of scars, but no broken bones.

the rest of the race i put the hammer down and got myself as high as 6th overall before the bonks started coming. a steady diet of cokes and bananas cured that, along with my wife jan cheering for me.

in the end i was 8th elite.
