Wenn ich mir die Zahlen so betrachte und überlege, ich wäre ein Athlet, der bisher immer in den Top10 und machmal auch schon mal auf dem Hawaiitreppchen gestanden hat...
... mir täglich den A... im Training aufreisse und im Grunde gerade soviel verdiene, dass ich meine Familie gegenwärtig ernähren kann...
... dann hinter vorgehaltener Hand erfahre, dass möglicherweise Athleten, die vor mir landen, unerlaubt nachhelfen...
... ja dann gehört schon eine gute Portion Idealismus und Standhaftigkeit dazu, wenn ich, sobald ich auf die 40 zugehe, immer noch so weitermache!
Denn später bekommt man dann im besten Fall auf die Schulter geklopft " 'warst echt mal verdammt schnell!". Und insgeheim denkt jeder "... aber zum wirklich großen Gewinn hat's nie gereicht! Und jetzt guck doch, welch armes Würstchen du geworden bist!"...
Aber vielleicht habe ich auch das Vertrauen in die Gesellschaft zu sehr verloren...
Spricht das jetzt für oder gegen eine neue Serie, wo "Leistung" im Vergleich zu anderen "Sport"arten endlich mal angemessen bezahlt wird?!
CHALLENGE OMAN UPDATE 18 MAY 2015 - Due to current circumstances in the countries bordering Oman, CHALLENGEFAMILY today confirmed CHALLENGEOMAN, previously scheduled for 7 August, will no longer take place.
Planning is currently underway for an alternative venue to host the prestigious Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Series with its record-breaking $1 million prize purse and this will be announced shortly.
The triathlon world will watch as Daniela Ryf (SUI) and Terenzo Bozzone (NZL) battle against the world’s top pros to keep in the running for triathlon’s ultimate prize and the chance to become an instant millionaire.
“While we are disappointed not to be able to showcase the beauty of Oman to the world, cancelling the race and moving the Triple Crown for 2015 is in the best interests of both the athletes and the local community," said Challenge Family CEO, Zibi Szlufcik. "Special thanks must go out to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his inspirational support of the sport which is taking it to new levels around the world. We are very much looking forward to announcing location of the second race of the Nasser bin Hamad Triple Crown Series shortly.”

Was ist dran, dass aus Challenge Bahrain ein Ironman wird? Hatte entsprechende Gerüchte auf Fb gelesen ... aber sonst noch nix. Weiss da jemand was?
Naja, wenn ich da an das grosse Bahrain VIP Zelt beim IM70.3Mallorca denke (das war ähnlich gross wie das Finishzelt in Roth) und die ganze Entourage (Bodyguards, Presse usw) während des Rennens (Scheich Nasser ist ja auch gestartet), denke ich, dass an dem Gerücht wohl was dran sein kann.

2023: ich bin wieder da - nach 5 Jahren Sportpause wieder in Roth gefinisht. Dann gleich noch in Almere.
Laut Paul Kaye (Speaker of Ironman Europe) mit dem ich vorgestern ein ausführliches Gespräch hatte, war das Ziel von Scheich Nasser von Bahrain immer Ironman. Challenge war wohl nur das Testpaket. That's Business. So wie es ausschaut wird sich wohl am Ende nur Roth als Challenge so richtig halten und bewähren können. Alle anderen Rennen werden immer ein Wechselrisiko haben.
