Rolling swim start auf Lanza



What is the main reason of this change?

The main reason and above all, is the safety of the athletes. The rolling swim start prevents crowded starts, in our case with more than 1,600 athletes swimming too closely together, providing a safer and more enjoyable experience for all. Also, triathletes will swim alongside participants closer to their age making the swim segment and transition smoother and more spaced.

Some of our athletes have been asking for this change in our post-race surveys and the IRONMAN Group has also suggested this change over the past year. IRONMAN implemented the Rolling Start in the World Championship in Hawaii 2019, and IRONMAN Lanzarote was the last event to continue with the mythical mass swim start. With this change, IRONMAN Lanzarote closes a circle in 2020.

The swim start of the IRONMAN Lanzarote, on May 23rd, 2020 will be as follows:

07:05 – FPRO
07:07 – PCOPEN
07:10 – M18-39
07:12 – M40 – 44
07:14 – M45 – 49
07:16 – M50+
07:18 – F18 – 39
07:20 – F40 – 54
07:22 – F55+

Any other changes in the 2020 edition?

Another significant change will be the FINISHER polo shirts. After having studied our athlete's feedback, the FINISHER polo shirts will be replaced by technical shirts. This will allow athletes to use them on a day-to-day basis, both for training and for casual dress.

Eins aus Baumwolle wäre glaube ich aber noch schöner.

Diese ganzen Plastikshirts finde ich grässlich.

sehe ich auch so.
Die Platsikshirts hab ich mir dann erst gar nicht mehr mitgenommen.
Ich wüsste ehrlich nicht wann öde wozu ich die tragen sollte.
