Ironman 70.3 Nizza 2020

Ich habe aus zwei IM Teilnahmen in den letzten xxx Jahren noch eine Rechnung in Nizza offen, die ich quasi zur Hälfte in diesem Jahr begleichen will. Wer steht denn auch noch auf der Startliste und hat Lust gemeinsam auf das Rennen zu trainieren?

Wie mir gerade per Email mitgeteilt wurde, findet der 70.3 Nizza am 13.09.20 statt. Damit hatte ich nicht gerechnet...

A few weeks ago we at IRONMAN announced our Safe Return to Racing event guidelines in an effort to make the current racing environment as safe and risk free for you as possible while still delivering exceptional race day experiences for everyone in our community.

We wanted to take the opportunity to update you on how this information specifically relates to you when you race with us at the IRONMAN 70.3 Nice.

Registration will be open on Thursday 10 September, from 12pm to 8pm, on Friday 11 September from 9am to 8pm and on Saturday 12 September from 9am to 3pm. Athletes are encouraged to plan their travel and arrival times accordingly.

The Race Briefing will take place online only.

More information on the above changes will be provided to you in the coming weeks to help you prepare for your race experience.

While we are excited to welcome our community back to the events and see you achieve your goals, we understand that travel and border restrictions may prevent some athletes from being able to participate in the 2020 edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Nice. We would therefore like to offer athletes who face these restrictions the opportunity to defer their entry to 2021.

We also wanted to assure you that in the case of the event being unable to take place on 13 September 2020 for reasons relating to the Covid-19 pandemic, all registered athletes will have their race registration moved to the 2021 event date. We will provide as much notice as we can.

Das ist aber lediglich eine Standard-Mail, die ich bspw für den 70.3 Rapperswil bekommen habe. Von einer definitiven Genehmigung durch die Behörden steht da nix. Daher wahrscheinlich auch die Einschränkung im letzten Absatz.

Ah, danke für die Info. Ich hatte heute auch tatsächlich bei nice70.3@ironman.com nachgefragt, wie der Stand ist - schliesslich hat sich IM doch selbst auf die Fahne geschrieben, spätestens 50 Tage vor dem Rennen die Entscheidung zu fällen (und heute sind es noch 48 Tage).

So, das hier wäre dann die persönliche Antwort des Athlete Services Coordinator France auf meine Anfrage:

Currently the event will be taking place as planned. However, we cannot predict the progress of the virus and the government decisions that might be taken at the "last minute". We understand your concern, which is also ours. We hope that the situation does not change and that we will be able to offer you a nice event.

I can offer you the postponement of your registration to the 2021 edition, if that is what you wish. Thank you for informing me as soon as possible so that I can carry out the postponement procedure.

Gestern erst groß in allen Nachrichtensendungen gesehen und gehört das die zweite Welle an COV19 Infektionen gerade am rollen ist: Urlauber, usw.

Today, we were notified by the authorities of Nice that they have withdrawn their support for IRONMAN France Nice and IRONMAN 70.3 Nice among other events due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and we must confirm that the 2020 IRONMAN France Nice triathlon originally scheduled for October 11 and the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Nice triathlon originally scheduled for September 13 cannot take place in 2020.

We will provide an update to you as soon as possible with further information regarding options, inclusive of deferrals to 2021.

If you have further questions, please contact us at nice@ironman.com and nice70.3@ironman.com. While we are prevented from holding the events in 2020, we look forward to providing you with an exceptional race experience in the future.

In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we recognize that this decision due to the above-mentioned unforeseen events may come as a disappointment. While we are prevented from holding the event on the original date, we are looking forward to providing you with an exceptional race experience at IRONMAN 70.3 Nice in 2021.

All registered athletes of the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Nice triathlon will have their race registration automatically moved to the 2021 race date.

We also realize that this change may impact your travel arrangements, therefore registered participants are advised to contact their travel providers immediately to inform them of your situation.
