Accommodation: Homestay in Roth gesucht!

Hello,

My German is not very good, but I think this is the right place to ask about accommodation for Roth?

My wife and I, both competing, are travelling from Canada, and need an apartment from July 11 to July 15. Any suggestion is helpful.

We did a home stay on our previous trip to Ironman Regensburg which was amazing. Looking forward to our return to Germany and experience Challenge Roth!

Thanks!
Greg

I'm afraid that you're pretty late to easily find accomodation, as Roth and the whole region are said to be short of accomodation for the whole Challenge weekend (and as far as I saw it, also are).
You could try to call the adresses listed here: http://www.challenge-roth.com/en/pra...nterkunft.html, maybe they still know something. And if you got a rental car during your stay, you could search in Nuremberg as well, it's not too far and there should be some more capacity there.
Good luck with your search!

Thanks! I always find the best time to find accommodation for popular races is to book very early or very late when people cancel.

I am not worried as we will likely stay in Nuremberg, unless we find something closer. We are renting a car, so it is not a problem.

You are gonne travel around the world for a triathlon!!!!
Respect!!!! Hope to see you on the track. Think you gonna wear a Mountie suit

It's Challenge Roth! A must do triathlon!

A Mountie suit would be funny. But it's Bavaria, lederhosen might be more suitable. ;)

You must all try Challenge Penticton in Canada. Amazing race.

Be aware: At the same weekend there is the German Touring Car Championship race in Nuremberg which is a quite big event. So it's quite difficult to get a place there. We found a room at this hotel:

No idea how it is, since we are staying only one night. Online I could still book the room last weekend, but when I phoned earlier they said that no room would be available. Since they already booked the money from my credit card later I think the online booking is confirmed ;)

Not far from the start there are some opportunities for camping. Last year I hired a caravan near Nuremberg, towed it to Roth (Approx. 60 k) and was there for 4 days together with 21 starters from our tri-club. You can use a tent as well. I preferred the caravan as with an age of 55 the real challenge perhaps wouldn't be the 226 k but getting out of the tent with a back that feels like being broken. But you’re a tough Canadian of 38 ;-)). It was fine with the caravan and it's only a 500 m walk to the start in the morning.
A problem for you probably is to hire a car with a towing bar.
The opportunities I'm writing about are quite basic, which means it's just a cut meadow near the house and no allocated areas for particular tents or caravans. So, it's no "Prussian order" (it's Bavaria), but this makes it interesting and you're in the middle of the athletes with barbeque and everything is casual. The facilities are simple, but sufficient and cleaned frequently, electricity is available but requires a long cable.
If your preferred target is to get a got result the hotel is probably best, but for enjoying the whole atmosphere of the event, I found it perfect. The reservation for camping as well as the caravan still should be possible. Please send me a PN in case you want the details. You should however have somebody, who can do the reservation in German and you need to do an advanced payment to a German bank account for the caravan.

I don't mind camping, but I think my wife would take exception!

Thanks for the suggestion though.
